Ren Jianxu has been doing trading for five years.
Looking back on the previous three years, what impressed him most was not how much money he made, but the repeated liquidations.
“I have been liquidating my position for the past three years. When a sum of money comes in, it usually explodes in half a month, a month, or even a week.”
During that time, he also doubted whether he was not suitable for trading at all.
I stopped in the middle and thought about leaving, but in the end I returned to the market.
The real change starts from getting rid of “adding positions at a loss”.
After no longer trying to recover losses by taking larger positions, his trading gradually changed from continuous losses to breakeven.
Subsequently, he spent about a year reorganizing his trading concepts, strategies and risk management methods, and slowly formed a trading system that was more suitable for him.
“I have no talent. My character is just like a leek. The only key is that I never give up.” Ren Jianxu doesn’t feel that he relied on talent to get where he is today.
For him, the past five years have been more like a process of making mistakes, discovering problems, and then correcting them bit by bit.

01|Why choose trading?
When asked why he chose trading, Ren Jianxu’s answer was simple: he likes it and loves it.

“I’m tired of my life being clearly arranged in real work and seeing the end at a glance.”
What attracts him to trading is not only the results, but also the independent choice of the pace of life.
Now, he has taken trading as his full-time direction and is ready to continue, “It is enough to just do good trading in this life.”
However, being full-time does not mean operating frequently every day.
After experiencing frequent trading and continuous liquidation in the early days, he increasingly emphasized calmness, objectivity and calmness, and did not forcefully enter the market because “something must be done today”.
“You don’t open a position every day,” he said.
Now, he is more willing to wait for opportunities that truly fit his system.
02|From the first test to the second test, he began to re-understand his strategy
When Ren Jianxu took the EagleTrader assessment, the first test was not easy.
“My first exam was messy at the beginning, and it was impossible to make a stable profit.”
After realizing this, the first adjustment he made was to reduce his position.

Since there was no fixed time limit for completing the initial test, he decided to slow down and stabilize the account status first.
After the position was reduced, he found that his judgment began to become clearer.
Previously, he had gradually formed a set of trading concepts that favored general trends. However, after entering the assessment, he also discovered that there were certain adaptation problems between the original trading method and the account rules.
When it came time for the retest, he began to actively adjust his trading rhythm, switching from larger trend trading to swing trading, and at the same time reducing the trading frequency, hoping to better match the strategy with the account rules.
For him, this is not simply changing a trading method, but re-understanding the boundaries of his strategy.
As for how to adjust next, he did not set a very aggressive goal for himself.
“I’m not thinking about the future for now. I’ll stabilize it for a few months and then slowly polish it. Where there is so much or such rapid progress, just do it step by step.”
03|Don’t rely on luck, put consistency into the trading system
In Ren Jianxu’s trading outlook, luck does not play a very important role.
“I never expect any luck, I only rely on the system and my own efforts.”
Occasionally, the stop loss happens just before the market starts, or the market continues to move in the original direction after closing the position. In his opinion, this is a normal occurrence in trading.
A transaction may be accidental, but after the cycle is extended, he is more concerned about whether his behavior can be consistent.
“As long as the cycle is lengthened, consistency will definitely be the key to stability and sustainability.”

The consistency he understands is not to mechanically repeat the same operation, but to have a clear plan before entering the market every time. After opening a position, he knows when to continue and under what circumstances to exit, and does not easily change the original execution standards just because of one or two profits and losses.
In terms of trading methods, he currently prefers trading on the right side and does not deliberately pursue the bottom and the top.
When making judgments, we will combine the general cycle, general trend, supply and demand relationship and macro background, and then look for key positions and entry opportunities.
Rather than trying to capture the entire market, he prefers to only do the parts he can understand and execute.
04|After three years, he finally stopped “adding positions at a loss”
When talking about the handling of positions after losses, Ren Jianxu’s attitude was very clear: “Since I have lost money, it proves that I was wrong from the beginning, why should I add to the position at a loss?”
But it took him a long time to actually achieve this.
In the previous three years of trading, adding to positions at a loss had been a recurring problem for him.
After experiencing many out-of-control accounts, he slowly removed this kind of operation from his system.
Now, he only considers adding positions when he is profitable, and the conditions for adding positions will be more stringent than when he first entered the market.”If you add the right position, you can double your profits, and if you lose, you won’t be in a dilemma.”

For risk, he also established his own set of quantitative methods.
If the overall acceptable risk is regarded as 100 points, then only a part of it is used on average for each transaction. Even if there is enough risk space, it will not be all used up.
When a certain level of losses occurs continuously, he will take the initiative to stop and re-examine his mentality, cognition and execution, instead of continuing to increase the frequency of transactions.
This is also one of the biggest differences between him and his early trading status.
In the past, when he suffered a loss, his first thought was how to make money back as soon as possible; now, he will first determine whether the loss is a normal fluctuation of the strategy, or whether there is something wrong with his judgment, emotion, or execution.
05|The assessment brought him more than just a result
Ren Jianxu said that one of the biggest gains after taking the EagleTrader assessment was to re-polished his trading concepts and systems.
The initial test allowed him to see the mismatch between the original trading rhythm and the account rules, and the retest prompted him to readjust his strategy. The requirements for risk and consistency throughout the process also made him re-examine many of the trading habits he had been accustomed to in the past.

He compared the market to spring, summer, autumn and winter. It can be sunny, it can rain, it can be windy, it can also hail.
What traders can do is not to require the market to always conform to their preferences, but to understand what they are good at and what they are suitable for, and then slowly form these into a set of methods that can be implemented in the long term.
“I don’t have to like it or not, I just have to adapt to the market.”
In five years of trading experience, Ren Jianxu has not found an answer that suddenly makes trading easier.
What has really changed are some very specific things: no longer adding positions at a loss, and starting to actively control positions; no longer requiring myself to trade every day, and learning to wait for opportunities;
We no longer take a single profit or loss too seriously, but gradually focus on execution and consistency over a longer period.
From repeatedly liquidating positions to slowly establishing your own trading system, this process is not fast.As he said:
“Just take it step by step.”
